Adoptive Families Coalition (AFC) is writing to you on behalf of Marisol’s family. Marisol came home with Heidi and Don and her big sister Lila when she was almost 19 months old. Often times, early life in an orphanage can hinder the typical development and bond that should occur between a child and parent creating severe attachment issues. These issues can manifest into many unsafe behaviors, as well as, lack of self esteem and identity.   Despite the love given in Marisol’s forever family home for the past thirteen years, she continues to face immense struggles despite every effort. After careful prayer and research, Heidi and Don made the very difficult decision to enroll Marisol in a Christian Therapeutic Boarding School Program. Marisol needs every  opportunity for therapeutic treatment in order to heal. The program will provide Marisol with the specific, specialized therapy , a fully accredited high school, and 24 hour supervision necessary for her safety to ensure she has a chance to shine as the fearfully and wonderfully made young lady that God created her to be.   There are very few resources for families who face these challenges. AFC is assisting Heidi and Don in funding her therapeutic treatment as their insurance will not cover the prescribed treatment. Unfortunately, healing a child from trauma can be a very expensive and lengthy process.  We need a community of support! Please consider if you can make a one time or monthly donation to help change Marisol’s life; offering her hope and a bright future. 100% of your tax dedubtible donation goes directly to Marisol’s medical treatment. AFC will match the first $2000 in donations. THANK YOU! To learn more about AFC please visit our website
